True Vine Equestrian Center’s Horse Rescue Team was started by Faith Gunderson, one of our high school volunteers, in November of 2006. She had been given forty dollars by her Sunday School teacher and challenged to pray about how God would have her use this money for the Lord. After several months of praying she decided to start our horse rescue team. Another volunteer, Emilia Ertz, agreed to help along with program director Vickie Nakamura and board member Nancy Wheatley. The team was soon formed and began meeting in the fall of 2006. The meetings consisted of Bible study, learning horse care and planning fundraising. Our team plans to rescue at least one horse per year, with the goal of sharing Christ through the horse rescue experience.
